Black Sabbath was the first concert I attended. What an amazing experience for a young teen. It was at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, probably around 1975. I’d never seen so many people like me before. The crowd was happy, the air was filled with reefer, and it was the time of our lives.
Black Sabbath formed in 1968 releasing their first LP in 1970. They are considered the pioneers of heavy metal music. Their guitarist and composer, Tony Iommi, lost the tips of his fingers in an accident before the band formed, and it is said that the prosthetic thimbles he used were responsible for the bands unique sound. They also experimented with timing and tritones which also contributed to their uniqueness.
