I’ve lived in a lot of places, but one of my favorites was Imperial Beach, California. It was sometimes seedy, full of unique characters, and always fun. I’d walk the beach every morning and strike up conversations with the hippies and fisherman and often come back with something I’d found (a surfboard once). I lived in a condo complex right across the street from the beach, and it was bordered in the back by the Tijuana Slough, a wildlife refuge that gave me a beautiful view no matter where I was in that Condo. My neighbors were amazing and our common areas seemed more like a family gathering place than an apartment complex. You couldn’t really go any further south and still be in the USA. Those were adventurous and interesting times.
