Silent Running is a re-dubbed soundtrack for the 1972 film of the same name. It was performed live along with the film at the 2011 Glasgow Film Festival. I’ve included a split-screen sample from a 2011 live performance and a studio track that I find beautiful, explosive, and thought provoking.
Sheffield’d 65daysofstatic is a Post-Rock/Math-Rock group that does incorporate some vocals that are complimentary to the instrumentals. However, most of the voice inclusions are layered over the instrumentals and are more experimental in nature. The Destruction of Small Ideas is their third album and was released in 2007. The hard driven, underlying feel of this record isn’t something to be enjoyed in quiet reflection, but rather, something to savor when in the mood for some intelligent, (mostly) instrumental guitars and percussion. The sound is crisp and well engineered, and audibly beautiful.
