a2402575146_2Maven is a four piece instrumental post-rock band from France. This is from their bandcamp webpage:

Maven is an instrumental post-rock band of music from Metz (France) and was born in 2012. Hammock, Caspian or Mogwai are some of its main influences. Deep ambient melodies are brought by the 2 guitars (Alex and Stephane) completed by the aerial harmonies from the piano (Marie). Bass guitar (Marie) and drums (Guillaume) bring the intensity to support the melodies. First EP out in June 2014!

I’m looking forward to the new EP. Their influences are favorites of ours (Caspian and Explosions in the Sky) and their style is deep ambient post-rock with some heavy bass and percussion providing the framework for some beautiful and hypnotic music. This is the official video from their upcoming EP, “Staring at Eastern Light” and it’s called “The Hymn of Her Innocence.” The cover shot is Marie (Bass/Piano) and the reflective composition of the photography is a perfect representation of Maven’s music. Enjoy!

I’m a yankee, but I’ve spent a lot of time in the south and I do feel a kindred relationship with the country. I’m not a country music fan, but some of the bluegrass and country rock appeals to me…the south appeals to me. The people are genuine, kind, and the last vestiges of the original American. Pioneers that fill me with a deep sense of belonging, warmth and welcoming.

This track is from one of my favorite TV shows. I’ve watched Justified since it premiered and they end every season with a version of this track.
